Yoga and Mental Health Treatment
For me, yoga is about much more than just practicing physical postures. I am most interested in the mental-emotional benefits yoga has to offer. While pursuing my MS degree in counseling at the University of Wyoming, I simultaneously completed my 200 hour yoga teaching certification from Om Time’s Tillai Univeristy in Boulder, Colorado. Since then, I have received over 100 hours of training in styles of yoga that specifically support healing from depression, anxiety, and trauma, including Shannon Paige’s Bhava Vinyasa, Amy Weintraub’s LifeForce Yoga ®, and Hala Khouri’s Yoga Ed curriculum, Teaching Yoga to Those At-Risk. I believe yoga and other mind-body techniques can be accessible to anyone, regardless of size, shape, color, orientation, or experience. It is my goal to help each client connect to the body, the mind, the heart, and the breath, and realize their full potential in every area of her or his life.
“Yoga creates the power to experience that connection fully, deeply, richly, and with all the complexity that human embodiment promises.” – Douglas Brooks
